Brian is a clinical researcher with the Medical Research Council Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate in Cardiovascular Science at UCL and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health. His research is in life course epidemiology and the effects of ageing on cardiovascular and neurological function, primarily focused on cardiovascular mechanisms linked to cerebral β-amyloid deposition and cognitive decline, as part of Insight 46, a neuroimaging sub-study within the MRC National Survey of Health and Development, funded by Wolfson Foundation, Alzheimer’s Research UK, the MRC and the Brain Research Trust.

 

Brian’s first foray into the realm of Model WHO was OMWHO 2013 in Toronto. Since then, he has attended a total of 20 Model WHO conferences (and counting) in both delegate & chair capacities and has won numerous Best Delegate Awards for his participation. He was also a part of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations’ (IFMSA) delegation at the 71st World Health Assembly in Geneva, where he delivered IFMSA’s statement on Maternal, Infant & Young Child Nutrition during Committee Sessions.

 

Brian is also an active participant in global health case competitions and hack-a-thons, and is highly involved with social entrepreneurship. As a result of a Top 3 finish at the World Economic Forum’s African Healthcare Hack-a-thon at London’s Google Campus, he has co-founded a social start-up that focuses on women’s nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa, which also made it to the Top 25 of the eBay Start-Up Cup competition. He also won the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summer School competition in Munich, developing a tele-health application that connected refugees with healthcare workers who speak their own language, and has been back as a mentor.
